Why Bother Getting Your Vehicle Serviced?

Published at March 30th, 2012

Some parts of your vehicle are going to wear out quicker than other parts. The parts that wear faster must be checked once and awhile to be sure they are still functional. If you bring your vehicle into a mechanic and tell him to service it he will double check all of those parts that wear out. Most checkups take under 30 minutes to perform and they are relatively inexpensive.

The front brake pads and the back brake pads along with the cable for your emergency brake will be checked in a servicing. Your fluid levels will be topped up and the condition of all the spark plugs examined. The air filter should be changed at least once a year and your tire tread will have to be monitored to make sure you can keep traction on the road. Your engine oil will be changed every 6000 miles as well.

When your vehicle has come back from a reputed garage you won’t need to worry about whether the job was performed right. Plus it’s nice to not have to buy any extra tools, have to learn to use those tools or learn all those new procedures. A well serviced vehicle will cost less money as time goes on even though it may seem more expensive at first. Running your vehicle with poorly performing parts will cause more damage over time.

While you can keep your car in tip top shape by yourself many people just aren’t up to it. It is difficult to keep track of all the part change dates. Getting the tools isn’t too difficult but you do have to pay for them and know how to use them. Many people decide that learning to perform maintenance techniques is too much hassle and they let a mechanic do it. There are also benefits to getting a dealership to maintain your vehicle like a higher resale value.

Quick Education for a New Field

Whether you are unemployed or just want to start something new, education is the key to getting a new start. Education is the foundation for a career change. We all have a lot more skills and knowledge than we realize, but we often need to pump up the academic and educational resume to get into a second career.

Many skills are transferable and can be used in another career. Transferable skills are knowledge, talent, and specific tasks that you are good at. The first thing to do is get a plan. Do you need a job quickly? Are you looking for something more meaningful? Write down where you are and where you want to be. Look to see what is preventing you from getting there. That’s your “gap”.

With lists of priorities, wants, and transferable skills, add education to the list and compare to careers that sound interesting. Look up careers and see what education is required. As little as a six-month education program certificate can open doors. After completing your certificate, you may find that you want more education to take it to the next step.

You can get the entry position with certification programs at a good salary; then work towards an bachelor’s degree while you work. If you want to learn rapidly and land a job, there are a couple of career that entry is easier than others. You can get into the legal field as a paralegal with a certification program, in as little as a year; these are available online.

Many healthcare programs train you for medical assistants and medical records. Both programs can open doors. Then, just continue your education on the job. HR is another one. A PHR or SHR are two certification designations that can lead to high salaries and unlimited opportunity. Always aim for as much education as you can, but it’s nice to know continuing education through certification can also get you hired.
